Project Review

India is one of the fast developing countries in the world. Despite its development, there are increasing incidents of violence and discrimination against women. Still, newspapers in India are full of stories of violent incidents against women like rape, and sexual harassment. In India , governmental and non-governmental efforts have been made to protect women and girl child from the ill ailments of the society. Women development centers (women homes) have been established in an attempt to reach the destitute women and help them build their self esteem to lead a life with their heads high. Most of these homes are resource poor and urgently need volunteers to run its program. Volunteers are mostly needed for teaching English, provide skillful trainings, counseling and mentoring. Volunteers in this project can help women realize their worth as a human being.

Note: This women project is more useful for the internship volunteers because they get so much information about the condition of women in India and it better helps for them in report writing. As the women do not speak English, it is difficult for volunteers to interact and work with them. On the other, we have few women and girls children shelters where generally our volunteers prefer to work.

    • Teaching beautician work and teach them other skills
    • Stitching & tailoring to help them stand on their own feet
    • Organizing games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative education and extra curricular activities for the girls
    • Help in other activities or programs (if any)
