This museum provides a link between our past and our future, bringing to life different times, places and people. From boomerangs to ball gowns, from dinosaurs to dragon flies, the Queensland Museum is a world of discovery. With 6 campuses across Australia, this museum has over 150 staff, researchers, honoraries, and volunteers.

Major Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities 

  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Competent use of the Vernon database and editing facility.
  • Ability to resolve anomalies.
  • Cross referencing to original JCU hard copy transfer lists.
  • All information on each object worksheet is to be entered onto Vernon in fields designated by Curator.
  • Conduct an inventory cross referenced to each worksheet to ensure object exists at MTQ.
  • Current location entered and updated on Vernon database.
  • Original JCU worksheet should have QM registration number assigned to top right hand corner and date.
  • Original worksheet filed accordingly in QM registration numerical order.
  • Potential to conduct further research on each object ie: the use, cultural group, language name, ceremony, citations elsewhere, donor/collector etc

Skills/ Qualifications

Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA and be at least a college Junior (successful completion of two full years of university level education). Interns must also be between the ages of 18 and 30 at the program start date. Custom Date Internships- Interns must be high school graduates between the ages of 18 and 30.

Any Missing Important Information

Application Fee: Write a check for $30 USD payable to AustraLearn. Canadian students should obtain a USD bank draft. This fee can be paid online by credit card if you use the online application. The application fee is non-refundable.
