We offer Spanish language instruction at all levels, and our basic lesson plan consists of 20 lessons a week, 4 lessons a day. You can begin on any Monday, and will be given a placement exam upon your arrival to determine your level of instruction. Our class size is limited to maximum 4 students, and one-on-one instruction is available. Our program is designed around a full-immersion pedagogy which includes intensive Spanish instruction and the chance to put what you learn into practice through total immersion in San Salvador. Teachers are Salvadorans trained in teaching Spanish as a second language. They have a variety of experience levels, some with up to 8 years of teaching experience at CIS, and most are involved in the social movement, including the teachers' association.

No sepcific qualification required but the student must be flexible, helpful, motivative, creative and eager to learn new methodologies.

Accommodation Options: Homestay is an integral part of our Spanish program. As part of the cultural exchange and to improve language skills, students are housed with Salvadoran families who are active in bringing about social change in the country. From the time you wake up, you will be practicing your Spanish, learning about the political situation, experiencing Salvadoran culture, and developing friendships that can last for years.

Cancellation before the course starting date:  Cancellation fees are charged as follows, and any balance is refunded less non-refundable items and bank fees and payment processing charges (if any) 

Cancellations received: 

 

• More than 21 days before the course begins: $200 cancellation fee;
• More than 7, but less than 21 days before the course starting date:
• Cancellation fee in the amount of 50% of the program fees;
• There is no refund if the cancellation received 7 or less days before the course starting date.
• In no case money will be refunded once the course and/or lodging has started. 
• No refund can be given for partial attendance or the discontinuance or interruption of a course.
