The courses are organized into three levels. Level One courses are designed as a first exposure to Greek or East Mediterranean Studies and are open to students who have no background in the topic; Level Two courses are designed for students who have some background in the topic; and Level Three courses are reserved for those who are able to engage in advanced work. At all levels, full use is made of the resources of the city of Athens. Students must take either Modern Greek, Ancient Greek or a Classical Language as part of their course load. Modern Greek CL 290R is already on the CIPA Blanket Course Approval List. Courses (other than language classes) are taught in English, and students are required to take four courses worth four credits each for a total of 16 credits per semester. Archaeology, Classical languages, ethnography, Greek Literature in translation, History, Modern Greek, Philosophy, Political Science, and Religion. This program is open to all majors, but may be particularly suited to students with academic interests in the majors listed above.
