Project Review

The Cardiff School of Music is more than just a place to study, with a department and city truly alive with music. All your academic and performance needs will be met at this school with an international reputation for its excellent teaching, ensembles, and facilities. In addition to all the ensembles and special activities offered by the School, the student-run Music Society provides even more performance opportunities and social events to help get you involved!Cardiff is only a couple of hours away from London, but offers a smaller and much less expensive city atmosphere. It's the perfect place to spend a semester, experience a new culture, and get to know some Welsh musicians! The possibilities of study, research, and performance are endless at Cariff. Areas of study include music history, ethnomusicology, performance, composition, analysis, and popular culture.

The School also offers guest lectures, masterclasses, workshops, and concerts by visiting artists.Academic life is enhanced by the excellent facilities offered in the Music Building. These include the University Concert Hall, extensive Music Library, practice rooms, electronic studios and IT suites. There are also two Research Centres, specializing in Central European music and historically informed performance. Academics in Wales different from the U.S. system. Most courses (called modules) are worth either 10 or 20 credits each. Music students typically take six 10-credit modules, or 60 credits, per semester. Please talk with your home university advisor about determining the credit equivalencies for transfer credit toward your home degree.
