Studying languages gives you an international world view. This course will provide you with solid speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in your chosen language(s), and their associated cultures. With the choice of studying French, German, Spanish or English as a Foreign Language as your first or main language, you can choose to learn an additional one or two languages from the many others we offer. There is the opportunity to customise your studies through the selection of other option modules, such as Phonetics & Phonology, European Cinema and European Art & Culture. The study of one or more professionally applied languages, together with the study of European, cultural and global issues, will enable you to develop into an informed and professional linguist, able to work in a broad range of areas in both private and public sectors. In the final year you will also be required to write a dissertation in your target language which will provide evidence of your language skills and fluency, plus your ability to apply it to a variety of projects which will improve your employability.
