This course is open to vocalists, instrumentalists, and small ensembles interested in the performance practices, language, and technical and stylistic aspects of the interpretation of Renaissance and Baroque repertoires. Study will focus on areas such as the madrigal, the frottola, the villanella or canzonetta all napoletana, Italian concertato music, and Italian monody of the 17th century. Participants are immersed in the local music community. Along with this program students will participate in an Italian language course consisting of 25 contact hours to help gain a stronger understanding of their course work and to further enrich students’ experience living in Siena Italy.

Program fees and on-site fees include:
Siena School Official Transcripts issuing and shipping. One copy will be mailed directly to the home institution and other two copies will be mailed to the student mailing address.Programs fees and on-site fees do not include:Students should inquire with their home institution’s Education Abroad Office regarding the requirements for overseas health insurance for the duration of a study abroad program.
