Project Review

This course is open to vocalists, instrumentalists, and small ensembles interested in the performance practices, language, and technical and stylistic aspects of the interpretation of Renaissance and Baroque repertoires. Study will focus on areas such as the madrigal, the frottola, the villanella or canzonetta all napoletana, Italian concertato music, and Italian monody of the 17th century. Participants are immersed in the local music community. Along with this program students will participate in an Italian language course consisting of 25 contact hours to help gain a stronger understanding of their course work and to further enrich students’ experience living in Siena Italy.
