Project Review

The 12 week Hansard Scholars Programme in London offers a hands-on experience for students interested in politics and current affairs.  Students, registered at the London School of Economics, will study British Politics, sit in seminars with politicians, and participate in an internship relevant to their interests.  Students have access to the LSE library, an LSE email account, and other perks of being an LSE student. Since the Programme is 12 weeks, the Academic year is slightly different.  The fall semester runs from mid-September to mid-December, and the spring semester runs from mid-January to the early April.Academic work is divided between courses, guest lectures, and supervised research.  Courses are organized and administered by the Hansard Society, yet they take place on the campus of the London School of Economics.  Offered courses are Parliament & Politics and Politics & Public Policy.  Students pursue an individual research project taking the form of an 8,000 to 10,000-word paper. Every semester, the Hansard Society makes sure that their students have been exposed to London’s political and cultural opportunities.  Therefore, the Programme includes a four-day political study visit to Edinburgh, Scotland, a day-trip to the historical city of Oxford including lectures in Oxford University, and theatre trips to shows in London’s West End.
