The 40-hour course is made up of the 20-hour Weekend TEFL course and the 22.5-hour online English Language Awareness course.
The 20-hour Weekend Course: The 20hr weekend course will give you the basic training you need to be an English teacher. In just one weekend you will learn the skills and methodology that will give you the confidence to get out there and teach.
You will enjoy a fun, interactive and high-impact course. The Weekend course gives you the chance to work in front of a group and interact with others in a simulation class setting. Over the two-day course you will be introduced to all the essential TEFL areas you need to walk into a classroom with confidence. The weekend training will provide you with a valuable opportunity for face-to-face classroom instruction, getting a feel for what the classroom setting is like which enables role-playing opportunities that you could not take advantage of through our online course. The Weekend TEFL course lasts two days from 9-8 on Saturday and 9-6 on Sunday. There will be short breaks where refreshments will be provided. (Lunch is not included.)Cactus TEFL Online English Language Awareness Course:This course is a grammar course for teachers which helps you look at the English language from the point of view of the language teacher. It is a "pre-TEFL" course which is for you if you are worried that you don’t know enough English grammar, or if you'd just like a head start before starting an intensive course. This is also a brilliant means of preparing yourself for the Pre-Interview Tasks. It is also a 'post-TEFL' course for those who feel that despite the language study on the course, they still want more.

- Skills/ Qualifications
You need to be at least 16, though some schools prefer you to be at least 20. Please note that there is no upper age limit for these courses. People of all age groups and backgrounds gain qualifications to teach English as Foreign Language, so don’t worry if you are at the more mature end of the spectrum! For native speakers of English, ideally you need to have the qualifications which would allow you to access a degree course - i.e. A-levels or an equivalent. Having said that, certain schools may require you to hold a degree, whilst others will consider your application if you just have relevant life experience - so it's always worth checking. If you are a non native speaker, you will also need to be able to demonstrate your ability to use English to a very high standard - ideally you will need to hold something like Cambridge Advanced English (CAE), Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) or IELTS level 7. If you don't have an external qualification, the school will be able to test the level of your English, often by providing you with an additional language task to complete.
