EBC's training centre in San Jose, Costa Rica is located in the district of San Pedro, just 5-10 minutes by taxi from the centre of San Jose, and just a 5-minute walk from two of San Jose's major universities. Located east of downtown San José, San Pedro is the site of the University of Costa Rica. There are numerous college-type bars and restaurants all around the edge of the campus, and several good restaurants and small hotels in both neighbourhoods. The training centre has been designed with the your needs in mind. The centre has modern computers running Windows XP, high-speed Internet connections including office-wide WIFI access, a small library, and a snack bar where every morning the coffee and tea are piping hot and FREE. Every classroom is equipped with comfortable chairs, an oversized whiteboard, and a cassette and CD player. The main teaching rooms have a surround sound system, DVD player, cassette player, and TV. In addition to the teaching rooms, The EBC TEFL course training centre also has a study room where you can do your course work. The centre is equipped with WIFI so, if you bring your WIFI ready PC, you can work in the study room with free internet access.

Standard requirements
- You should be 21 years old by the course start date
- You should have a high level of competence in all aspects of English (*)
- You should have either a degree (or similar level professional qualification) or 5 years work experience
(*) Non-native English speakers are eligible if they meet the requirements mentioned in the Non-native English Speakers section shown below.
Optional TEFL course acceptance enhancers: If you have experience in any of the following areas please include it on your TEFL course application.- Lived, worked or traveled abroad
- Knowledge of a second language
- Work experience
- Recent additional studies
- Experience in dealing with groups of people
- Volunteer work
- Mentoring, tutoring or teaching
- Teaching experience
You must also show serious intent to use your teacher training in a realistic way for your career development.
Non-native English speakers: If you are a non-native English speaker you can apply for the course but you must have a highly advanced level in all aspects of the English language. This must be demonstrated by having one of the following:
A degree from a university in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom or the United States of America Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English)
IELTS level 6 TOEFL (minimum scores 520 on the paper-based test or 80 on the computer-based test)- Arrangements for Room/Food
