Lending much to the competitive nature and the spirit of Brazil , soccer runs through the veins of just about any of this country's citizens. Not only part of life… sports in Brazil is a way of life. Using sports as an innovative approach to team-building, IFRE places proactive volunteers in various athletic programs throughout Rio de Janeiro (usually soccer camps). There are a number of sport-related programs for children throughout this diverse country. Volunteers can support these sports programs by contributing their time and personal skills on a number of levels. Various operative tasks conducted by these assorted sports programs often require the expertise of individuals with managerial know-how. Additionally, sports seminars which are occasionally organized for and attended by Brazilian children of various ages often require able-bodied and eager individuals to assist in the planning and structuring of these events.
Volunteers in these projects should expect to offer assistance on various levels as the need of these projects if often significant. Volunteers usually help in assisting coaches in a number of sports programs (usually soccer). Volunteers may be asked to serve within the capacity of a head coach as well as the occasional referee or umpire (the ruling official for sporting events). Volunteer will help promote and organize sport events as well as develop educational workshops and seminars. Support will be given to already-existing sports and recreational programs in schools and communities. Volunteers may also be asked to provide clerical or secretarial duty as occasionally required.
