Volunteering on a Medicine and Healthcare project in Brazil is an exciting experience. As a Medicine and Healthcare volunteer you will gain a large amount of valuable work experience alongside some extremely skilled and talented doctors. Volunteers will find that the facilities in the hospitals are generally of a high standard and comparable to hospitals in the west. Our volunteers work in large hospitals in the city of Niteroi. Volunteers have the opportunity to shadow doctors in a number of different departments. On arrival you will be introduced to your supervisor, their role is to ensure that you have the opportunity to learn as much as possible during your placement.Doctors and nurses welcome volunteers with a range of experience, as long as you are enthusiastic and keen to participate. Through showing initiative and building a good rapport with your colleagues, you can get very involved with the doctors and patients with whom you are working.
Major Job Responsibilities:
Skills & Qualification: Volunteers do not need previous work experience to take part in this project, although anyone who does have any relevant skills will be very welcome and will be able to take on a more specialized role. All volunteers should, however, be active,be prepared for working in the specified project fulfilling the responsibilities. Medicine and Healthcare volunteers in Brazil should have a basic level of Portuguese, or are able to confidently speak Spanish.
Food: We will ensure you are provided with 3 square meals a day.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, so there is no firm deadline for applications. Some countries and projects require at least three months to process an application, arrange for visas, and advise you properly on how to prepare. Other countries can be processed in as little as three weeks. Whenever you are thinking of traveling, we encourage you to apply as early as possible. Having more time to prepare makes it easier for you to fundraise, and for us to advise you on preparations. It also makes more options available for tailoring a program to your individual interests and preference.
