Volunteer Abroad in Finland

Competing for tourists' money with such Nordic neighbors as Norway and Denmark, Finland boasts more attractions than you might think. Its rugged wilderness is thoroughly speckled with lake after beautiful lake. During the all too brief summer, Finns and visitors take to lovely wooden cottages in the hinterland to swim and fish in lakes, pick wild berries and mushrooms in the forests, and round out their days with a Finnish sauna session and a glass or three of kossu (Finnish vodka). In the far north the fascinating reindeer-herding culture of the Sami people holds sway. Volunteering in Finland is an excellent way to serve the country's children and communities and presents opportunities to explore this great country and thoroughly experience its culture in a different, immersive way. Volunteer opportunities in Finland include: working in an orphanage, teaching English, working in healthcare projects, and supporting many local non-profit organizations.
