There are a variety of activities that are carried out under this project. The activities, all of them, are concerned with the conservation of the natural environment around the forest. Volunteers take part in Mangrove and tropical forest restoration through maintenance of planted trees, working in the tree nursery, mapping of reforested areas and cleaning up beaches.
- Major Responsibilities

- Work in the tree nursery filling bags with soil, seeding and weeding bags
- Inventory and mapping of reforested areas
- Weekly beach walks for turtle monitoring, oyster shell and drift wood collection
- Weekly beach clean ups

Skills or Qualifications:
There are no specific skills or qualifications as requirements for the volunteering placement. However, we do expect our prospective volunteers to be graduates with genuine enthusiasm.
- Arrangements for Room/Food
Food and Accommodation:
Volunteers will be staying at the reserve that is located in the Amazon region. Food will be provided to you at the reserve. Meals will be served three times in a day.

- Application letter indicating: experience in conservation activities, future interests, reasons for applying, preferred station and participation dates (participation dates are needed to guarantee space availability).
- Doctor’s note stating you are fit to participate in all activities required of you OR Proof of international travel Insurance.
- 2 passport size photographs
- If you have an original project include the work plan (2-5 pages)

Financing
Volunteers must pay their own expenses, including airfare to Ecuador and living costs while in the country.
Costs for Volunteering
Volunteers have to pay an application fee and the program fee according to the number of weeks they will stay at certain reserve. The program fee includes accommodation at the reserve, three meals a day, the coordination, organization and total support during the volunteer program. During the orientation meeting in Quito you will receive the following things: a Jatun Sacha T-shirt, a hat, a folder, a pen, a booklet with information about the Jatun Sacha Foundation, a map of Quito and the volunteers manual for the station you are going to volunteer at. The payment has to be made before going to the reserve at the office in Quito during an orientation meeting.
