Travel to the northern Costa Rica and volunteer in a zoo. The zoo houses many attractive local and other animals and birds. Work to make their enclosures clean, feed them daily and learn many interesting work from local staff employed by the zoo. If you are a veterinarian, biologist or generally fond of working in a zoo, you’ll have a great time working and helping the zoo and the animals.
- Major Responsibilities

Be flexible and have patience while working as working condition in Costa Rica is very different from what you’re used to back home. You’ll clean the enclosure, feed the animals, and you can even work in the administration of the zoo. You might also take visitors on a guided tour of the zoo. Volunteers in the project will definitely have opportunity to complete a large amount of fulfilling work.

- Skills/ Qualifications
No qualifications required. If you have knowledge of Spanish, you can communicate more effectively with local staffs and enjoy the program more. You should also be of good health as the work can get little physically demanding.
- Arrangements for Room/Food
RCDP will provide from your every need during the project. During the project, you will home stay with a host family or in a lodge. In a host family, you will be provided with a separate room but you will share bathroom facilities. We have chosen our host family carefully and they will provide with a safe and secure location for you to stay. They will have experience of hosting foreign volunteers before and at least one member of the host family will be able to communicate with you in English. Staying with a host family is a wonderful way to learn about the lifestyle and culture of Costa Rica. You will be served 3 locals meals by the host family. The meals will be prepared hygienically. Our staff will also visit you regularly to check your progress and see if you’re satisfied with the project or not. So you can rest assure that you will be completed looked after while you volunteer in orphanage work project in Costa Rica.

- Hepatitis A or immune globulin (IG). Transmission of hepatitis A virus can occur through direct person-to-person contact; through exposure to contaminated water, ice, or shellfish harvested in contaminated water; or from fruits, vegetables, or other foods that are eaten uncooked and that were contaminated during harvesting or subsequent handling.
- Hepatitis B especially if you might be exposed to blood or body fluids (for example, health-care workers), have sexual contact with the local population, or be exposed through medical treatment. Hepatitis B vaccine is now recommended for all infants and for children ages 11-12 years who did not receive the series as infants.
- Malaria: if you are traveling to a malaria-risk area in this region, see your health care provider for a prescription anti-malarial drug. For details concerning risk and preventive medications, see Malaria Information for Travelers to South America and Costa Rica .
- Rabies
- Typhoid vaccine. Typhoid fever can be contracted through contaminated drinking water or food, or by eating food or drinking beverages that have been handled by a person who is infected. Large outbreaks are most often related to fecal contamination of water supplies or foods sold by street vendors
- Yellow fever , for travelers to endemic areas in Panama
- As needed, booster doses for tetanus-diphtheria and measles.

- Against mosquito born diseases wear long-sleeves and pants (especially early evening) and also use insect repellants.
