Sri Lanka is economically and educationally disadvantaged country, though rich in culture and beauty. As a developing country, Sri Lanka also has to take support of English language for the overall development of the country and knowledge of English language is a great boon towards the prosperity of the Sri Lanka. Sadly, English learning opportunities are limited to rich class families, leaving the poor having no access to the English education. Volunteering in this project helps the children especially needy ones to make their future better and boost confidence on them. Through the means of English learning, underprivileged Sri Lankans can have access over opportunities and better ways of life.
You will teach English to the children between the age group of 6 to 16 in a local rural school. You can also use a variety of teaching techniques such as gestures, flash cards, artwork, music, and songs to help children learn English better. If you have the experience, you can also teach mathematics, science, literature or physical education. You can also help in administrative works of the school administration. You will teach between 9 AM - 3 PM on weekdays.

As an English teaching volunteer, you must have fluency in English language, though you need not necessarily be a native English person. To be a proficient instructor, prior experience in teaching English would be helpful. However, if you are not confident in your teaching abilities, RCDP can place you as an assistant teacher. They should also be flexible, self-motivated with openness to a new culture and should have a willingness to learn.
RCDP-Sri Lanka arranges room, food, and supervision for our volunteer from the very beginning to the end of the program.
