Project Review

You can often times hear the rattling of a “steel buffalo” (the Thai word for the small two wheeled, hand held rice paddy tractors) in the distance from the gardens and rice paddies of the Single Mother’s Home.  Although surrounded by rice paddies and mountains the home is only a 15 minute drive from the bustling streets of Chiang Mai. Volunteers are needed to assist with the building of new facilities on the property (mostly out of bamboo) and gardening projects (they try to grow most of their own vegetables and fruit on-site).

Any Missing Important Information

Travel insurance is not included in the program fee. We prefer to let participants decide what kind of coverage they need. We ask that no participants arrive on December 23-27 or December 31-January 3. This allows our coordinator and staff in South Africa to spend the Christmas and New Years holidays with their families. Since you are about to volunteer in another country, we ask you to make necessary preparations before departing. We prefer volunteers to take some small gifts to local people. Some viral diseases like Malaria and yellow fever are prevalent in some communities so we ask our volunteer to get necessary information regarding vaccinations before going to this country.
