The BABSEA Alternative Spring Break Program offers an opportunity to make a real contribution to fighting the hardships and legal inequity in Southeast Asia while being involved in a remarkable experience of living and working in the region. The program is flexible and can run from 1-2 weeks. It includes a training/orientation workshop, participating in the community legal education programs in rural and marginalized communities near Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. You will also be helping work on BABSEA community service projects in Thailand’s forests and rural villages.

Major Responsibilities

As a volunteer, this will be a good opportunity for you to make a real contribution to fighting the hardships and legal inequity in Southeast Asia while being involved in a remarkable experience of living and working in the region.

Major job responsibilities include:

  • Working with BABSEA staff and partners in community legal education programs, interaction with rural and marginalized communities and children with limited access to legal services
  • Assisting BABSEA and the community legal education program with activities and community legal education initiatives
Cost/Program Fee
USD 500 to 800 depending on the length of the Program
What program fee Includes

The program fee covers:

  • Pickup from the Airport
  • Local transportation to work placement 
  • Food and Accommodation 
  • In country coordination
  • Cooking classes, Utilities and Language classes

The program fee does not cover:

  • Visa charges
  • Personal expenses
  • Airfare
Skills/ Qualifications

We dont have any specific skills and qualifications as the requirement to this volunteering program. However, we would expect the interested candidates to be caring, helping and a warm individual willing to learn.

Arrangements for Room/Food

Food and Accommodation: Volunteers can choose inbetween staying with a host family or in a hostel that we provide. Food will be very good with Cambodian regular meal 3 times a day.
