Overview
Discover Spanish Language Learning Opportunities with IPSL Global Engagement at Westminster University. Engage in immersive learning and include (where available) meaningful volunteering opportunities in your program. With IPSL create a Spanish language learning program in one (or several) of the following cities:
Cádiz is an historic coastal city in Andalusia, known for its rich history, stunning beaches, and vibrant culture. The city is one of the oldest in Western Europe, founded by the Phoenicians over 3000 years ago. In addition, to help increase language proficiency the school offers workshops in the art of photography, cooking, and theater and each week a wide variety of activities (like tours and excursions) are organized to help participants discover Europe's oldest city.
Charming, lively, and located on the stunning Costa del Sol, Málaga is a combination of culture (over 40 museums and art around every corner + it’s the birthplace of Pablo Picasso), the Mediterranean Sea (16 sunny beaches!), numerous tapas bars, cutting-edge neighborhoods, historical sites (Málaga’s history dates back almost 3000 years), and more. The result is a city full of passion, history, and beauty that makes it a perfect spot to soak up some sun and study the Spanish language. In addition to language courses, there are opportunities to explore local museums, enjoy flamenco on the plaza, relax in an Arab bath (Baños Árabes) with massage, or savor traditional tapas.
Seville, Spain is a vibrant and historical city, known for its beautiful architecture, delicious cuisine, and passionate culture. It’s a popular destination with attractions like the Alcázar, the Cathedral, and the Plaza de España, all of which offer a glimpse into the city’s rich past. Seville is also famous for its flamenco music and tapas bars. You can even combine your Spanish language courses with lessons in surfing and watersports, or cultural activities! Each week a wide variety of activities (like tours and excursions) are organized to help participants discover this beautiful city. You can participate in weekend trips to Granada and/or Morocco and daytrips to Málaga (Ronda), Córdoba, or Cádiz (& the beach!).
The birthplace of paella, 300 days of sunshine a year AND a great place to study Spanish and volunteer with a local nonprofit. Valencia brims with historic attractions that are easy to walk to and discover in a relatively short time. Valencia is a stunning coastal city known for its perfect blend of historic charm and modern innovation. Situated on Spain’s eastern coast, it boasts a rich cultural heritage, beautiful beaches, and a lively arts scene. Explore the architectural wonders of the City of Arts and Sciences, wander through the historic old town, and savor the world-famous local cuisine, including traditional paella. The Valencian Community, with its diverse landscapes from coastal plains to mountainous areas, offers a wealth of outdoor activities and cultural experiences. Activities to enhance your experience are offered each week and can include cooking and culture classes, walking tours, language exchanges, and more. And each week begins with a paella feast to enjoy with your fellow students and instructors.
