Overview
Are you interested in teaching and helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds? With a booming tourism industry, there are countless job opportunities in Guatemala for those who are fluent in the English language. However, sadly good education is out of reach for the poorer children as they cannot afford to pay high fees for private schools. The public schools are also struggling in terms of its resources and qualified English teachers, and fail to meet the growing demand for English education.
As a volunteer, you will be teaching English skills to underprivileged children. You will manage the classrooms, prepare lessons, motivate the children with new and exciting ways to learn. Depending on your knowledge, you can also help the students with other subjects like math, science, health and personal hygiene etc. You can also plan extracurricular activities and assist with the administrative duties of the school.
This teaching English project in Guatemala is very impactful. You will make a significant impact in the lives of disadvantaged Guatemalan students by providing them with valuable English skills. The skills you teach them will enable them to get better jobs and find success in later life.
