Overview
Since 2011, our research work in Madagascar has provided a great chance to explore unique and diverse ecosystems. Joining an Opwall research expedition means getting involved in scientific projects on land and learning about local communities.
On land, you'll be in the Mahamavo forest area with a team of researchers. Your job will include collecting important data for various projects, like surveying lemurs and amphibians. You'll also attend lectures and practical field sessions to understand Madagascar's wildlife and conservation, gaining new skills.
Our marine site is on Nosy Be, a fantastic place for diving and gaining an SSI Open Water Qualification. We're studying the coral reef communities here. If you're a diver or prefer snorkeling, you'll take part in an Indian Ocean reef ecology course with lectures and hands-on exercises. You'll help collect and analyze data from video surveys and coral cover measurements, among other tasks.
