Care points for vulnerable children in Eswatini
Highlights
- Work with a recognised local NGO to support vulnerable children and their families
Overview
This project supports Neighbourhood Care Points for vulnerable children of pre-school age, providing them and their families with childcare, education and two meals a day. This project offers a responsible alternative for volunteers who wish to volunteer in childcare but are concerned about the ethics of short-term volunteering with in orphanages, as the whole aim of the care points is to provide the support under-privileged families need to stay together.
As a volunteer on this project, you can focus on childcare, working as a teaching assistant to the teacher at one of the care points and helping the children with pre-school education, which is based around learning through play. Or you can join the sports team which visits each care point once a week to organise games and other physical activities for the children. You will also help in the afternoons at the homework club for school children, helping them on a one-to-one basis to succeed at school.
