Overview
Explore the wild side of Zanzibar with our unique conservation packages, where you will contribute directly to protecting the island's incredible ecosystems. Our packages combine critical work in the Jozani rainforest or at Matemwe beach, or even both!
In the Jozani rainforest camp, you can support a reptile park run by a Farmers’ Cooperative, helping to provide them with an alternative source of income. You will also get to plant food sources for the red colobus monkey, participate in mangrove reforestation to prevent coastal erosion, help with bird and elephant shrew surveys to monitor their populations, and support many more engaging activities!
At the Matemwe camp, you can assist our team with sea turtle conservation by patrolling the beach, moving eggs to a hatchery, and releasing the hatchlings back into the sea. You can also participate in marine life research through observation tours to study the impact of tourism on dolphins or collect data on seagrass. Additionally, you can help fight coastal and marine pollution by collecting waste for recycling projects that you'll also visit and support. You can also get involved in fundraising to support local initiatives through creative events. These are just a few examples of the valuable work that takes place every single day in our Matamwe camp.
Both camps offer you the chance to participate in mangrove reforestation, seaweed farming, and beach cleanups. You can also engage in community work by giving swimming lessons to children, providing environmental education, or helping with renovation projects. Whatever program you choose, you are sure to have an engaging time, create invaluable memories, and make new friends from all over the world. Our programs are designed for passionate travelers who want to go beyond sightseeing and become active participants in preserving Zanzibar's natural wonders. Are you ready for your adventure?
