Next, visit the North, Quba where is known for its apples and carpets, and for the fact that it has the highest population of Jews in Azerbaijan; Go to Khinalug noted for its extraordinary landscape, Europe’s highest villages. After one night Quba, Return the south to the Caspian shore and visit the Mud Volcanos near Gobustan State Reserve where has more than 600,000 rock paintings, which depict primitive men, animals, battle-pieces, ritual dances, bullfights, boats with armed oarsmen, warriors with lances in their hands, camel caravans, pictures of sun and stars, on the average dating back to 5,000-20,000 years.

A night will then be spent in the capital city, then travel through ancient Absheron visiting the beautiful monument of Absheron peninsula. Next day, visit the previous capital of Azerbaijan, the city of Shamakhi, then continue your journey with visits to the mountain village of Lahic. This place is famous for its coppersmiths and its cobbled streets. Stay the night in Gabala where is one of the most ancient cities in Azerbaijan. Rich in culture, rich in activities and most definitely rich in sights. Next day, explore Gabala, home to interesting ruins from its time as the former capital of Caucasian Albania. Visit Sheki city, a true gem of Azerbaijan tourism. Sheki is a small city that has a whole lot to offer by way of historic attractions; in particular, the Palace of Sheki Khans which is a magnificent work of Islamic architecture. at the end of the tour, transfer to Baku International Airport and check-in for your onward flight.

  • Day 1 - Welcome to Azerbaijan

    As your plane lands at the airport in Baku, you will be warmly welcomed at the airport by our guide who will stand by you during the whole transfer to your hotel. Our bus will take you to the hotel where you can relax after the flight. You will have your dinner in your hotel.

  • Day 2 - Old City: Core of Baku

    Your acquaintance with Azerbaijan starts with its capital. The centuries-old quarters merge with very modern parts of the city. It is the place where rich history mingles with the magnificent present. For the visitors, Baku will be a sensational city.

    The sights line up one after another, all streets are full of fashionable boutiques and cozy pubs and incredibly nice and helpful people create a very pleasant atmosphere around. Moreover, large parks, smartly renovated old town and illuminated fountains help to create an unforgettable image of Baku. The contrasts here have always been impressive but now the city is also a real exposure of the contemporary imposing architecture.

  • Day 3 - Quba: Multicultural Destination

    Quba - one of the largest cities in Azerbaijan.The city is located 170 km to the north of Baku right on the picturesque hillsides. In the past, it was the capital of Quba Khanate which was founded in the mid 18th century.
    The unsurpassed beauty of the local mountains was praised by such famous people as Alexander Duma-father, the Russian writer Bestuzhev-Mariinsky, the Norwegian traveler Thor Heyerdahl and others.
    Indeed, the sceneries of Quba are hard to describe with words. It seems nature has collected there the brightest colors: juicy greens of the alpine meadows, white snow caps, rapid transparent-blue mountain rivers.
    The notorious architectural landmarks are Juma Mosque (19th century), Sakina-Khanum Mosque, Zoroastrian Temple in Khinalug village, and etc.
    The symbols of Quba are apple orchards and beautiful Quba carpets which are popular far outside Azerbaijan.

  • Day 4 - Khinalug: The Lost World on the Top of Mountains

    The Khinalug people have lived for many centuries in one village situated high in the mountains of Azerbaijan, near the Sahdag peak in the Quba district. Khinalug village is located seventy km by road southwest of Quba town. It is the highest populated location in Azerbaijan, reaching an elevation of 2,300 m above sea level.
    Houses in the village are constructed of stone, with traditional flat earth-and-timber roofs which form terraces reached by wooden ladders from below or from the connecting streets above. Khinalug village is famous for its unique language, which is native to no other location.
    The population figures cited by officials and other individuals suggest that the current Khinalug population of Azerbaijan is probably between 2,000 and 3,000. Everyone currently living in Khinalug village is ethnically Khinalug people, except for a few women.

  • Day 5 - Gobustan: Outstanding Universal Value

    Gobustan National Park is one of Azerbaijan's most popular sights attracting thousands of tourists annually. Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art. The site also features the remains of inhabited caves, settlements, and burials, all reflecting an intensive human use by the inhabitants of the area during the wet period that followed the last Ice Age, from the Upper Paleolithic to the Middle Ages. The site, which covers an area of 537 ha, is part of the larger protected Gobustan Reservation.

  • Day 6 - Absheron: History in Action

    The Absheron peninsula is kind of the birthplace of the by now global oil drilling craze – at least it was the first place where this reached massive (early) industrial proportions. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was the No. 1 oil production place on Earth, supplying nearly half the world's oil.

    Yanar Dag fire mountain is a non-religious site of much more recent origin – but still a testament of the spontaneous gas fires that these lands can emit straight from the ground, as already observed and reported by Marco Polo when he traveled through what is today Azerbaijan (the 'land of fire').

  • Day 7 - Shamakhi Juma Mosque: the oldest and the largest mosque in Azerbaijan.

    Shamakhi is an ancient Azerbaijan city. It started in the 5th century BC. In the 9th -16th centuries it was the capital of Shirvan Empire, a residence of Shirvan Dynasty it is by right considered one of the most beautiful cities of the Orient. In the mid-18th century, it used to be the center of Shamakhi Khanate.
    The main landmark of the city is Gulistan fortress (11th – 12th centuries) – the last refuge of Shirvan Dynasty built for the city's defense. Equally interesting are the mausoleum The Seven Tombs with numerous burial places of Shamakhi governors, Juma Mosque (10th century, reconstructed in the 19th century), numerous ruins of the 10th – 17th centuries.

    Lahic built in the 5th century B.C. on the canyon of the river Girdimanchai (Upper Caucasus). The village is small but very picturesque. The territory is recognized as a cultural reserve and is considered a popular touristic destination of the Great Silk Road.

  • Day 8 - Gabala: Home to interesting ruins from its time as the former capital of Caucasian Albania

    Gabala, or also and more locally known as Qabala, is one of the most ancient cities in Azerbaijan. Rich in culture, rich in activities and most definitely rich in sights . In the mountain region to the North of the country, you can see more of the local culture, sights, and activities: Sport, Hiking, Fishing, Hunting, Skiing and the list goes on. Unique, interesting, fascinating and delightful. Roman scholar Pliny the Elder who lived in the 1st century AD, in his work Naturalis Historia, called the 2400-year-old town of Gabala located on the ancient Silk Road as Kabalaka. Greek geographer Ptolemy called Gabala as Khabala, while Arab historian Belazuri as Khazar.

    Gabala truly is one of the most beautiful places in Azerbaijan, a mountainous town that hosts an International Classic Music Festival and International Piano Competition every year. The Gabala Music Festival has seen world’s famous classic performers including London Royal Philarmonic Orchestra, the Moscow Soloists, the Tartini Quartet and others. The people of Azerbaijan are well-known for their love of music, especially classic music. It is very common for many families in Azerbaijan to have piano and national music instruments such as tar or saz.

  • Day 9 - The majestic wooden Khan’s Palace, built without a single nail

    A true gem of the Azerbaijan Tourism, Sheki, is a small city that has a whole lot to offer by way of historic attractions; in particular, the Palace of Sheki Khans which is a magnificent work of Islamic architecture. The mountain town of Sheki is one of the must-see sights of Azerbaijan. Sheki is situated 700 m (2297 ft.) above sea level like an amphitheater surrounded by the mountains and forests of oak trees, this ancient city was long famed as a silk center and an important stop on the Great Silk Route. There is an assumption that the name of the town goes back to the ethnonym of the Saks, who reached the territory of Azerbaijan in the 7th century BC.

  • Day 10 - Transfer to Airport

    After your breakfast, we will transfer you to Baku airport for flying back home. On the way to the Airport, you will enjoy your lunch in one of the local restaurants in Azerbaijan regions. Driving distance from Sheki to Baku is 305 kilometers (189 miles).
