Costa Rica is renowned as a top destination for engaging in marine conservation efforts. We invite you to join us and play a vital role in essential marine research and conservation projects.
In our marine citizen science program, you'll acquire valuable skills, including the identification of marine fish species, conducting fish surveys, and the crucial task of submitting your data to an international database accessed by scientists worldwide.

Important Information
How will I spend my days ?
The goal of our programs is to train you to collect scientific valid data that is used to strengthen (local) conservation efforts. Therefor you will be diving a lot, if not every day ! To make sure that the data you collect is of high quality. We start with fish identification quizzes and exams.
Each program also includes presentations on fish biology and ecology, to give you a better understanding of the fish populations in our local environment. And after diving there is of course data entry.
It is a full day program but there is time in the schedule that allows you to go and explore the amazing nature and wildlife that Costa Rica has to offer. Have a look at the tours & activities that we offer ! Contact us directly for any of your questions at info@richcoastdiving.com.
What certifications do I receive ?
By joining any of our Marine conservation program you will receive several internationally recognized certifications (REEF surveyor, PADI and Green Fins).
Requirements:
- Advanced Open Water Diver with 15 logged dives minimum
- You will need to have your personal mask, snorkel, fins, dive computer, underwater slate and DSMB. Other dive equipment is included !
- Not yet Advanced certified ? No problem, can train you up to the required level.
