Overview
Mardi Himal Trek is one of the most chosen moderate trekking destinations in Nepal. This trek showcases different shades of the Annapurna massif alongside many others in the region. A well-managed route takes you to the lap of the Himalayas and you can delve into the beauty of Mardi. Passing by small local settlements and peeking into the local art of living, travelers can get a complete trekking experience from this trek. The delightful rhododendron forests and mesmerizing sunset views are added bonus to the trek. Stopping at local teahouses and homestays, authentic experiences are abundant in the Mardi Himal trek.
Trekking to Mardi Himal is very popular for its close view of the mountains especially Fishtail and Mardi Himal. Trek to this trail gets a close view of Annapurna Mountain, which is not permitted for climbing. It is an undisturbed trail to experience the real wilderness of mountains in Mardi Himal trekking. The trek journey takes you to the perfect and mesmerizing view of mountains and Annapurna ranges. You will see the snowcapped Himalaya from base camp as it is an awesome place to take a breathtaking view of the Annapurna Base Camp. The obvious thing about the mountains is the unpredictable weather of Nature. You fill like you are walking through the cloud in the trek. This experience makes the dream into reality with this amazing god gifted nature in Mardi Himal.
- Day 1 - Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)
Our representative from Himalaya Sanctuary will meet you after landing and custom clearance in the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Following a brief introduction and Nepali welcome, we will drive you to the hotel in Thamel. Thamel, as located in the heart of the city, you can have a first-hand experience of the valley from the drive. After reaching the hotel rest for the day there. Overnight at a hotel in Thamel Kathmandu.
- Day 2 - Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing ( 4 – 6hr)
Your guide for the Mardi trek from Himalayan Sanctuary will pick you from the hotel after breakfast today. Visit our office for a quick orientation session for the Mardi Himal trek and complete the preparation. From here you will head for a heritage tour of the Kathmandu Valley. You will visit the major world heritage sites and beautiful attractions around the valley throughout today. Some of these might be:-
Swayambhunath Temple: Also known as the ‘Monkey Temple’, this is one of the oldest heritage sites of Nepal. From the Temple viewpoint at the top, you can have a full-extent view of the Nepalese capital.
Durbar Squares: Three palace squares in the valley representing the major cities of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur (Patan) here resembles the rich history, art, and culture of the Kathmandu Valley.
Pashupatinath Temple: The Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most significant Hindu temples of Asia with over 500 small and big shrines, Lingams, and temples in the temple complex.
Boudhanath Stupa: The largest stupa and center of Tibetan Buddhism in the Kathmandu valley. One of the best places to relax and take a hint of Buddhist culture in Kathmandu.
After the Sightseeing, we will drive you back to the hotel. Overnight at Thamel Kathmandu. - Day 3 - Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (7- 9hr)
After breakfast, our guide will take you to the bus station near Thamel. You will take a scenic highway drive out from Kathmandu to the beautiful city of Pokhara. This thrilling road is packed with wonderful scenery and views to enjoy. Throughout the drive, we will take small breaks for snacks and lunch too. You will drive straight to your hotel here and rest for the day. In the evening you can take short walks to the lakeside area near your hotel. Overnight at Pokhara.
- Day 4 - Drive to Phedi and Trek to Deurali (2,100 m)
The trek starts from Phedi today which is about 45 minutes’ drive from the Pokhara valley. After reaching Phedi we will start walking in a bit relaxed trail to Deurali. This well-managed path passes through the iconic Dhampus village. Stone patched trail lead us to Dhampus village. We will have our lunch here and continue the trek to a small ridge. After about an hour we will reach the small village of Deurali. We will rest for the day in a lodge/teahouse here. Overnight at Deurali.
- Day 5 - Deurali to Forest Camp (2,550 m)
Enjoy a beautiful view of Machhapuchhre (fishtail) and Mardi from Deurali before starting the trek. In clear weather, one can have a majestic and clear view of these peaks. We will pass through red rhododendron forests and small villages before reaching the Forest camp. This area is locally known as Kokkar. From the camp, one can have a fantastic view of the surrounding landscape and natural scenery. Overnight at a lodge/teahouse in Forest Camp.
- Day 6 - Forest Camp to High Camp (3,700 m)
From forest camp, we have a steady uphill walk to High Camp today. Stopping briefly at the low camp we will have our lunch in a teahouse here. Nearing the high camp we can experience the change in vegetation and landscape as well. The alpine flora and fauna start to show up clearing the fantastic views all around the trail. After three hours of a climb from the low camp will see us reaching the High Camp. Overnight at a lodge/teahouse in High Camp.
- Day 7 - Trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 m)
We will start the hike to the Mardi Himal base camp early and view a mesmerizing sunrise over the snow-capped peaks. Heading first to the upper viewpoint the sublime view of Himalayas dominates the skyline. After some fantastic time here we will continue our trek to the highest point of the trail. Walking in a gradual uphill path we will reach the base camp after a couple of hours. From the base, we can have alluring views of Mardi, Fishtail, Tent peak, Annapurna Massif, Hiunchuli, Baraha Shikhar and many other snow-capped peaks of the region. After a fantastic time in the base camp, we will return to High Camp. Overnight at a teahouse in High Camp.
- Day 8 - High Camp to Sidhing (1,700 mt)
We will follow a different route back to Pokhara via Sidhing village. Today we will be walking mostly downhill from the High Camp losing about 2000 meters in altitude. The views are fantastic from this segment of the walk too. Passing numerous small forests dominated by rhododendron patches we will drop down from the camp. Nearing the Sidhing village we will go pass small shrines and monasteries. Sidhing is one of the major villages of the area and one can get a taste of the village lifestyle here. Rest for the day at a hotel/lodge here. Overnight at Sidhing village.
- Day 9 - Siding to Pokhara
For the last section of the Mardi Himal Trek, we have a pretty relaxed downhill walk to Lumre. The terraced fields and green hills with a glimpse of snow-capped mountains behind prove this portion picturesque. Short but livelier we will complete the trek at Lumre and catch a cab to Pokhara. Rest for a while in the hotel after reaching there and head out to explore the city. You can walk in the lakeside areas in the evening to view a beautiful sunset over Phewa Lake here. Try some Thakali cuisine and enjoy the nightlife of Pokhara. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.
- Day 10 - Drive to Kathmandu (7 - 9hr)
You can visit some of the local attractions early today before the drive back to Kathmandu. After breakfast, your guide will take you to a local bus station where you will catch a bus back to the capital. Enjoy the refreshing hill highway segment to the valley. We will drive you to your hotel in Thamel. In your spare time head out to explore the lively Thamel market and do some souvenir shopping. Join us for a farewell dinner and share your experiences with the whole team. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
- Day 11 - Departure Day
We will pick you up and drive you from your hotel a couple of hours before the departure. With some exciting stories and wonderful memories from the Himalayas, the Mardi Himal Trek with Himalaya Sanctuary will remain with you forever.

Important Information
Our main paramount is to offer safe and enjoyable trek for your clients. Experienced trekkers will often take only a selection of these items based on what has worked in the past. Please find the Clothing and Equipment List below for your personal use during your traveling period.
Foot wear:
Walking boots, Wool and liner socks, sandals Clothing: Waterproof jacket and trousers, Trekking trousers, Long sleeve shirts, Micro fleece, Mid to heavyweight fleece, Sleeveless or body warmer type fleece, Thermals or base layer for top & bottom (merino wool or synthetic), Fleece pants, Medium weight down jacket
Hand wear:
Fleece gloves, Warms mittens and/or gloves
Head wear:
Wool or fleece hat, Sun hat, Scarf, Head torch and extra batteries,Sunglasses
Personal Equipment:
Sleeping bag, Backpack large enough to carry water bottles, camera and extra clothing, Stuff sacks for keeping your gear dry and organized, two water bottles (Nalgene wide mouth bottles are the best), Sunscreen and lip salve with a high SPF, Insect repellent, Water purification tablets (Pristine, Biox Aqua or Aqua Mira), Favorite snack food, Trekking poles, Camera with spare batteries and memory cards, Insurance certificate.
Travelling:
Bring a small combination padlock to secure the bag, Travel clothes. You will need casual clothing for air travel days and time spent in Kathmandu, Toiletry bag include toilet paper, soap, towel, toothbrush, etc.
Personal first aid kit:
Any personal medications, Diamox (optional) helps with acclimatization.
Each trekker should carry one backpack for items required during the day. Your day backpack will contain items such as warm clothes, jacket, camera, water bottles, and personal first aid kit and day snacks. The maximum weight allowance is 15 kgs/33 pounds
