Founded in 1997 as one of the first volunteer abroad agencies on the web and one of the pioneers in worldwide volunteering abroad, WorkingAbroad now runs programmes in over 30 countries across the world focusing on wildlife conservation and community development projects. We strive to provide people with a guide to taking the first step towards a career that is aimed at the betterment of other people’s lives and conserving the natural environment, which is reflected in our logo: Take Action for Nature and Society. Our aim is to be the go-to website for ethical and responsible volunteer and internship opportunities abroad.

We work with international NGO’s at the forefront of marine conservation volunteering, wildlife and habitat conservation volunteering, environmental education and ecology, community and rural development projects, medical care volunteer programmes and internships. We run volunteer abroad projects in many countries all throughout Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe and North America. Our main objective is to offer meaningful and ethical opportunities to volunteers, who want to make an actual difference in a local community. We place high importance on the quality of the local organisations that we partner with. Our partners are always fully registered, on-the-ground respected operators with well-trained staff, who will support the volunteers before and during their stay and who fulfil our ethical criteria.
