Overview

Poaching, pollution and beach erosion is a rampant issue in Costa Rica. These activities threaten the survival of the already endangered sea turtles, so you will be tasked to ensure they thrive.

In this project, volunteers will patrol the beaches, prepare the nests, and rescue turtles on the beaches of Costa Rica. This is important for the safeguarding of the baby turtles and their survival.

Volunteers help patrol the beach to deter poachers, prepare a world famous nesting site for Leatherback, Hawksbill and Green sea turtles to lay their eggs, and to ensure they can reach the sea. Volunteers will also take biometric measurements and collect data about sea-turtles.

Volunteer Duties:

Help protect vulnerable Turtles nesting environment
Watch eggs hatch and baby sea turtles make their way to the sea
Stay on an idyllic remote beach
Patrol the beaches to protect turtle eggs
Plastic beach clean up

A useful project which enables you to see the work you do to visibly increase the numbers or this threatened species. Without your help, sea turtles could be an animal of the past. 🙋🏼‍♀️

An adventure you will never forget.
