Despite the current economic prosperity and rapid development in the field of healthcare in Ghana, rural and poor areas still lack adequate health clinics, medicines, and medical professionals. In poor areas, many Ghanaians still fall prey to treatable diseases. The wounded and the sick have to travel far just to receive the required treatment. This devastating situation needs to be changed. Considering this, RCDP invites the interested volunteers to take part in the Healthcare volunteer program in Ghana and improve the lives of the disadvantaged Ghanaian people.
A medical volunteer's role is diverse and ranges from observational to basic medical assistance depending on your education, skills, experience, and the community’s current needs. Medical volunteers are not allowed to perform major exams or surgeries and as a volunteer, you will shadow and work directly with a doctor or nurse. Your time will be spent supporting them at the hospital in departments such as Gynecology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Obstetrics, Pediatrics and Surgery.
You will learn about and get comfortable with a different culture’s healthcare practices and gain a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Your role as a medical volunteer in Ghana will directly help deserving people in need and make a life-changing impact on people’s lives.
Important Information
Volunteers interested in joining our volunteer healthcare program in Ghana need previous healthcare work experience or education. Regardless of experience, all applicants must have the passion and drive to want to help people with their medical problems and want to make a positive change in their lives.
