Overview

Sambhali Trust is an NGO dedicated to educating and empowering women and children in Rajasthan, India. Their mission is to break the cycle of poverty and subordination by providing safe spaces, vocational and educational training, and support to disadvantaged groups. They operate in Jodhpur, Setrawa, and Jaisalmer, running 10 empowerment centers and 3 boarding homes for women, girls, and children facing deprivation or abuse. The centers offer school education, vocational training in traditional handicrafts, and access to economic self-help groups.

The Trust also focuses on improving women's conditions by informing them of their rights, offering shelter, providing psychological and legal counseling, supporting victims of domestic violence, and assisting with medical or legal expenses. Volunteers can contribute by teaching math or English, organizing activities or workshops, running social campaigns, providing legal or psychological support (if qualified), and participating in projects related to sexual abuse prevention.

Additional volunteer roles include managing orders, ensuring quality control, working as a product designer (with relevant experience), and performing various office tasks such as document management, administration, recruitment, public relations, fundraising, writing newsletters or blog posts, creating social media content, and organizing external events.

Important Information

Anyone can volunteer with Sambhali Trust, regardless of sex, gender, or age. We prefer volunteers to commit for at least 2 months, though this isn’t required. A good level of English is needed, and we seek individuals who are eager to work, flexible, patient, and compassionate. Experience in teaching or skills in sewing and tailoring is a plus but not necessary. For those interested in the Aadarsh and Nirbhaya projects, experience in psychology or legal fields is required.

Volunteers can stay in the Sambhali Trust guest house for different rates: 25,000 rupees for a shared room, 35,000 rupees for a single room, or 18,000 rupees for a same-sex dormitory, all per month. The cost includes all basic services and meals. Shared spaces in the guest house offer great opportunities to connect with other volunteers. You’ll only pay for the time you actually stay, with any excess being refunded.
