Chitwan Jungle Safari Tour – 2 Nights/3 days program in the deciduous forest of Chitwan National Park overlooking the floodplains of Narayani, Rapti and Reu offers a prospect to witness wilderness of rich ecosystem that includes mammals, birds, reptiles and water animals of several kinds. Discover the near extinct animals among the lost world of towering trees and twisting vines, of pre-historic rhino and lumbering elephants, crocodile, python and deer; brilliantly coloer red birds and if you are fortunate – the superb Royal Bengal Tiger. Sharing home with these are other animals like rhesus monkey, grey langur, deer, leopards and wild cats etc. Get the opportunity to explore the colorful Tharu Culture, their way of living, culture and tradition, and you many even dance with them on an cultural dance occasion. At Chitwan National Park – 2 nights/3 days progrm, besides the Jungle safari on elephant back, you can enjoy a pleasant jungle walk, canoe ride, Bird watching, Crocodile watching, jeep drive etc. To add variety, a cultural village walk to the surrounding Tharu Village is also included in the tour. The program at Chitwan National Park will be as per the itinerary below but sometimes these schedules might be changed without information due to various reasons, such as climate, season, availability etc.
As you explore the jungle on the jeep and traverse inside its denseness, you will taste the wilderness that the dense Sal forests of the national park behold. Watching the wildlife deep inside the forest would be an inspiration. With the sight of animals walking together in their own herd, monkeys feeding their baby monkeys, rhinos drinking water on the bank of Rapti River, we will realize how animals have their own way of Living. What adds to your journey is the sunset view at the bank of Rapti River, nothing could have been more tantalizing!
- Day 1 - Drive Kathmandu to Chitwan - 175 km, 5 to 6 hours drive
Upon arrival at Chitwan , our representative will introduce to your hotel room and after being fresh, you will have lunch and then you will be briefed you about the chitwan jungle safari program. Late afternoon, you will go for an elephant-back safari for about two hours, an activity in which you will ride on an elephant to explore the jungle and wildlife. You will see varieties of animals like the one-horned rhinoceros, several types of deer, monkeys, wild boar, bison, sloth bear, leopard and, if lucky, the Royal Bengal tiger.
- Day 2 - Full day Chitwan jungle safari activities
You day starts with a wakeup call/knock followed by tea/coffee. After the tea/coffee, you will go for on a nature walk with a jungle guide/naturalist. Walking on foot through to the jungle of Sal and open grassland you will enjoy the beautiful environment with chirping of birds, humming of insects and roaring of animals. You will get back to the resort for breakfast. You will have breakfast before heading out for bird watching and the canoe trip. The canoe is a long wooden boat made from either silk cotton tree or Sal tree and accommodates as much as 15 people depending upon the length. The ride will be about 40 minutes and during the canoe ride you can see the two species of crocodile basking in the sun and many birds and if you are lucky enough a rhino drinking water from the river. The canoe ride ends near the Elephant breeding center where you can see more than 25 elephants and some small yet big new borns. The Naturalist will brief you about the daily routine, behavior and eating habit of the elephants. After the briefing we will go the river to see the elephants bathing. You can take a shower on top of a elephant after paying 2-3 dollars if not taking pictures of others doing so is always free. We will head back to the hotel and have lunch. After lunch we will participate in the elephant back safari which is usually 1.5 to 2 hours long. You often see animals like deer, monkey and Rhino in this trip. Walk back through the forest to the hotel.
- Day 3 - Chitwan jungle safari Program ends- depart
Early in the morning you will set off for bird watching program followed by tea. Then you will get back to resort for a nice breakfast. After the breakfast you will proceed to the journey to Kathmandu.
