KSTR’s mission is to protect the diverse wildlife and rainforests of Costa Rica by rehabilitating wildlife, reforestation, conducting original scientific research, environmental education, training volunteers and promoting conservation.

Founded in 1999 by two 9-year-old girls in Costa Rica.

Successful and sustainable organization backed by US 501 (C) 3 and Costa Rican Non-Profit.

Notable Wildlife Rescue of over 55 species and 200 animals a year.

Professional Wildlife Release Program with approximately 50% of wildlife being released.

Educational Sanctuary for unreleasable wildlife.

Viable Baby nursery for orphaned wildlife.

Work in accordance and with the Costa Rican Government.

Continued reforestation of 101,000 trees (94,000 on KSTR land).

Protecting and saving the critically endangered Squirrel Monkey (Saimiri Oerstedii) by installing and maintaining 130 wildlife bridges over the roads, and working with the electric company to insulate the electrical wires and prohibit access to transformers. Through these efforts the population increased from 1,200 to over 4,000, removing this species from the IUCN's Critically Endangered Red List.

Implemented a massive educational program (11 Reasons Not to Feed the Monkeys) to the local community and tourists.
