Many families in Bali live a poverty-stricken life and many need to work long hours to support their kids. Parents don’t have all the time in the world to care for their children and rely on the government and NGO-funded day care centers to look after their children while they go out to find work and make money. Depending on which center you end up at, you’ll be using all sorts of fun lesson plans, means and activities to help keep these children engaged, happy and ready for the future!
The skill of English is an important skill that can’t be stressed enough in Bali, an island that thrives on English-speaking tourists. If you can’t communicate in English in Bali, the chances of you securing a job that can house, clothe and feed you are slim. Thus, volunteers are very much needed to help with the improvement of English skills. In this teaching English Bali Volunteer program you’ll be teaching Balinese children how to read, speak and write and you’ll be truly honored for doing so.

This is not a volunteer program in Bali as such but is located about 1.5 hours away by plane, so a volunteering experience here would certainly pave the way for a visit to Bali. Wildlife Rescue Centre program is very interesting in that it is directly involved with combatting the illegal wildlife trade that sees traffickers attempting to move animals such as orangutans, sun bears, gibbons and more from Indonesia to China.
Before this project was set up it was very hard to confiscate the animals from the traffickers as there was nowhere to place the animals in for rehabilitation but now there is a place where these rescued animals can receive the care they need. The center is also heavily involved with educating communities and schools about animal welfare and rights. As a volunteer on this project, you’d be actively involved in caring for the animals and feeding them If you’re an animal-lover, do consider this program. This is the only Bali volunteering program available in Indonesia.
Kaya Volunteers is a reputable and well-respected international volunteering provider that receives a number of glowing reviews. On Go Overseas, Kaya Volunteers has an 80% rate of people voting 10 out of 10 for its volunteering projects, which is fairly notable although perhaps not as high performing as some of the other providers mentioned. On Go Abroad, Kaya Reviews receives a very high 9.63/10 rating.
The cost of the program mentioned above is $1480 USD for 2 weeks. This is reasonable but obviously not the cheapest option on our list. In fact, it’s the most expensive option on our list however this is probably because volunteers are given full training to work with the animals and this is of course a bonus.
We chose Kaya Volunteers because of its true commitment to conservation. Volunteers looking to really get first-hand and hands-on Bali volunteering experience in conservation and animal rights, or even veterinarians looking to develop their expertise should seriously consider Kaya Volunteers.
